February livestream yoga session – starts Feb 3rd

The inspiration for the name of this session comes from this quote by one of my teachers, Michael Stone:

“Reawakening love and intimacy for one’s self and beyond requires practice. This is not because love is something far away from us but because we forget. We forget that intimacy is near. We forget how to relax with others. We forget we are whole. Realization is a kind of remembering rather than an achievement or virtuosic accomplishment. Practice awakens the dormant and often invisible interiors of mind, body, and heart in order to establish a more tender, responsive, creative, and active self.”

More than ever, we need to remember what’s important. Practice helps us realign to what’s meaningful for us, here.

January livestream yoga session – starts Jan 6th

Humans are meaning-makers, and the stories we tell ourselves tend to be the ones that affirm our beliefs about the world and ourselves. They tend to be stories that prop up our sense of identity and worth. This makes sense: we need some sort of stability in the chaos.

Then again, these stories can also bind us.

Our yoga practice is about seeing through those stories, and realizing what they are: just stories. With great tenderness and compassion, we season our stories with a proverbial grain of salt, in order to make room for the unknown. Yes, this can be destabilizing and scary. And, it can also be freeing.

Let practice help with deepening our capacity to settle into the unknown.

January livestream session

Winter yoga: join me in-person for an 8-week session at Sport Manitoba starting Jan 12th!

Join me in-person this winter with 8-week yoga sessions starting Sunday January 12th at Sport Manitoba Fitness Centre!

We are sticking with our tried and true two types of class; while each session will have different focuses, they will both have an emphasis on cultivating functional movement that supports our everyday living.

Space is limited so sign up soon! There is a discount for folks who are already Fitness Centre members. Please see below for more details.

YOGA FOR STRENGTH
Sundays Jan 12-Mar 9th, 10:30-11:30 am

8-week session (no class Feb 16)
$150 (public rate) / $130 (member rate)

We are stronger than we think! This session will focus on building resilience (mental / physical) through our yoga practice. When we rise up to challenge, we show ourselves our inner strength and learn how to be our own cheerleader. We will explore how to prepare for greater and greater challenge, learning how proper scaffolding is what sets us up for feeling strong and empowered.

We will work up to playing at the edges of our comfort zone, and in that, I’ll offer modifications for postures so that you can find a version of the practice that suits you best.

YOGA FOR MOBILITY
Sundays Jan 12-Mar 9th, 12-1 pm

8-week session (no class Feb 16)
$150 (public rate) / $130 (member rate)

This session blends yoga and Functional Range Conditioning principles to maintain and improve range of motion in our joints. We slow things down to release tension, which then makes room for new movement patterns. This is particularly important for aging bodies (i.e. all bodies), injury recovery and prevention, and simply feeling comfortable in yourself.

I offer options to dial up / down the intensity so that you can make the practice work for your needs. Sometimes taking a step back is the more challenging choice; sometimes taking baby steps is just the right fit. Learning to adjust the practice to suit you is a key component to self-stewardship.
