Fall yoga: join me in-person for an 8-week session at Sport Manitoba starting Oct 20th!

We’re BACK! Join me in-person this fall with 8-week yoga sessions starting Sunday October 20th at Sport Manitoba Fitness Centre!

There are two types of class to choose from; while each session will have different focuses, they will both have an emphasis on cultivating functional movement that supports our everyday living.

Space is pretty limited so sign up soon! There is a discount for folks who are already Fitness Centre members. Please see below for more details.


YOGA FOR STRENGTH
Sundays Oct 20-Dec 8, 10:30-11:30 am

8-week session
$150 (non-members) / $130 (members)

We are stronger than we think! This session will focus on building resilience (mental / physical) through our yoga practice. When we rise up to challenge, we show ourselves our inner strength and learn how to be our own cheerleader. We will explore how to prepare for greater and greater challenge, learning how proper scaffolding is what sets us up for feeling strong and empowered.

We will work up to playing at the edges of our comfort zone, and in that, I’ll offer modifications for postures so that you can find a version of the practice that suits you best.

 


YOGA FOR MOBILITY
Sundays Oct 20-Dec 8, 12:00-1:00 pm

8-week session
$150 (non-members) / $130 (members)

This session blends yoga and Functional Range Conditioning principles to maintain and improve range of motion in our joints. We slow things down to release tension, which then makes room for new movement patterns. This is particularly important for aging bodies (i.e. all bodies), injury recovery and prevention, and simply feeling comfortable in yourself.

I offer options to dial up / down the intensity so that you can make the practice work for your needs. Sometimes taking a step back is the more challenging choice; sometimes taking baby steps is just the right fit. Learning to adjust the practice to suit you is a key component to self-stewardship.

September livestream yoga session – starts Sep 2nd

Beauty and ease is there for us, even in moments of darkness and despair. Can we learn to take it in? Appreciating the beautiful parts of life doesn’t negate the difficulties and challenges, but it can resource us so that we can meet the difficulties with greater resolve. Through our Yin Yang practice, we play with duality and learn to make room for more.

How do we continue to reorient towards what is fundamentally important, without getting lost in oversimplifications and platitudes? Practice is an opportunity to cultivate conviction and courage, so to keep renewing our commitment to the real work of change. By gently holding space for confusion, complexity, and uncertainty, we learn to see through the illusion of control.

July livestream yoga session – starts July 8th

It’s hard to be grateful when we’re burnt out. “Be grateful” just becomes another thing on the to-do list that we’re not doing, or not doing well enough. Instead, can we reframe gratitude practice as a way to gain perspective? While we acknowledge struggle, we also acknowledge the gifts we receive?

Just like we try not to force the body into a certain way, we try not to force gratitude. We practise widening our frame of view, so that even if gratitude shows up in glimmers, we can let it nourish us.
