It’s hard to be grateful when we’re burnt out. “Be grateful” just becomes another thing on the to-do list that we’re not doing, or not doing well enough. Instead, can we reframe gratitude practice as a way to gain perspective? While we acknowledge struggle, we also acknowledge the gifts we receive?

Just like we try not to force the body into a certain way, we try not to force gratitude. We practise widening our frame of view, so that even if gratitude shows up in glimmers, we can let it nourish us.

To rest is to affirm our humanity – that as biological creatures, to rest is to survive, and hopefully thrive. In a world with complicated problems that require complicated solutions, it is no longer a luxury to rest – it is a duty. To rest means we can stay consistent and persistent in our efforts to strengthen, learn, and be of benefit to ourselves and others.

March-April livestream yoga session – starts Mar 4th

As we emerge from the energetic repose of winter, turning towards the light feels so sweet – and, deeply vital. Taking in the moment, marking time, grounding ourselves in context – this is the prerequisite for stepping into the goodness of our lives. It doesn’t mean it’s always easy, but we can only start where we start!

March-April livestream yoga session

Spring yoga: join me in-person for an 6-week session at Sport Manitoba starting March 3rd!

Call in spring with a 6-week yoga session starting Sunday March 3rd at Sport Manitoba Fitness Centre!

We are sticking with our tried and true two types of class. Each session has a different focus, but they will both have an emphasis on cultivating functional movement that supports our everyday living.

Space is pretty limited so sign up soon! There is a discount for folks who are already Fitness Centre members. Please see below for more details.


YOGA FOR STRENGTH
Sundays March 3-April 14, 10:30-11:30 am

6-week session (no class March 31, Easter Sunday)
$115 (non-members) / $95 (members)

We are stronger than we think! This session will focus on building resilience (mental / physical) through our yoga practice. When we rise up to challenge, we show ourselves our inner strength and learn how to be our own cheerleader. We will explore how to prepare for greater and greater challenge, learning how proper scaffolding is what sets us up for feeling strong and empowered.

We will work up to playing at the edges of our comfort zone, and in that, I’ll offer modifications for postures so that you can find a version of the practice that suits you best.

 


YOGA FOR MOBILITY
Sundays March 3-April 14, 12:00-1:00 pm

6-week session (no class March 31st, Easter Sunday)
$115 (non-members) / $95 (members)

This session blends yoga and Functional Range Conditioning principles to maintain and improve range of motion in our joints. We slow things down to release tension, which then makes room for new movement patterns. This is particularly important for aging bodies (i.e. all bodies), injury recovery and prevention, and simply feeling comfortable in yourself.

I offer options to dial up / down the intensity so that you can make the practice work for your needs. Sometimes taking a step back is the more challenging choice; sometimes taking baby steps is just the right fit. Learning to adjust the practice to suit you is a key component to self-stewardship.
