February livestream yoga session – starts Feb 2nd

In an often challenging and hard world, it makes sense to need protection. Ensnared in our pain, this can look like getting defensive, bolstering the perimeter, not letting anything in, numbing out. It takes skill and practice to learn how to recover, to see the good alongside the bad, to strengthen the “muscle” of tenderness so that we can let in what nourishes us. The rectangular space of a yoga mat is a good training ground for softness.

Winter yoga: join me in-person for an 8-week session at Sport Manitoba starting January 18th!

Join me in-person this winter with 8-week yoga sessions starting Sunday January 18th at Sport Manitoba Fitness Centre!

We’re sticking with our tried-and-true class styles, but what’s offered in each session will have different themes and nuance that responds to the bodies that show up in the moment. The through line that is always maintained is an emphasis on cultivating functional movement that supports our everyday living.

Space is limited so sign up soon! The fall session sold out so don’t wait. There is a discount for folks who are already Fitness Centre members. Please see below for more details.

YOGA FOR STRENGTH
Sundays Jan 18-Mar 15 (no class Feb 15), 10:30-11:30 am

8-week session
$175 (non-member rate) / $160 (member rate) incl GST

Strength isn’t just bracing; it’s about being steady through fluctuations. By building strength in the physical body, we feel more stable in our mental and emotional fluctuations as well. A steady body helps us to feel capable and ready for anything.

We will work up to playing at the edges of our comfort zone, and in that, I’ll offer modifications for postures so that you can find a version of the practice that suits you best.

YOGA FOR MOBILITY
Sundays Jan 18-Mar 15 (no class Feb 15), 12:00-1:00 pm

8-week session
$175 (non-member rate) / $160 (member rate) incl GST

This session blends yoga and Functional Range Conditioning principles to maintain and improve range of motion in our joints. We slow things down to release tension, which then makes room for new movement patterns. This is particularly important for aging bodies (i.e. all bodies), injury prevention and recovery (including healing scar tissue), and simply feeling better.

I offer options to dial up / down the intensity so that you can make the practice work for your needs. Sometimes taking a step back is the more challenging choice; sometimes taking baby steps is just the right fit. Learning to adjust the practice to suit you is a key component to self-stewardship.

If you have any questions, check out this list of FAQs, or feel free to send me a message here. If you want to contact Sport Manitoba directly, you can do so here.
