A special livestream session – REIMAGINING POSTURE – starts Wed Nov 19!

Reimagining Posture livestream session 2025

This is not your typical yoga class.

REIMAGINING POSTURE is about uncovering ease and stability in how we sit, stand, and move through the day. Over the course of four weeks, we’ll focus on key areas of the body that affect how we hold ourselves up against gravity (feet, hips, spine, ribcage, shoulders, and skull).

We’ll set aside the idea that there’s a “perfect posture” – instead, we’ll explore how a truly useful posture is one that is dynamic, adaptive, and contextual.

Unlike a usual yoga class with a guided sequence of postures, we’ll have more of a workshop-style experience with lots of experimenting, room for discussion, and the promise of real-world applications.

The postures we take in a yoga practice undoubtedly have their value, but ultimately the most important postures are the ones we take when we are moving through the day. Typical activities like sitting at a desk, standing at the sink, or walking up the stairs might sound mundane, but they culminate in significance: these are the actions that make up a life. When we feel good in our bodies, we do good.

If you’re interested in exploring how your yoga / movement practice can extend off the mat, sign up! If you’re looking to address chronic back / neck / shoulder pain, this is for you! If you’re hunched over your screen reading this, scroll down and register already!

Each week’s class will build on the previous. We will:

  • Cover the basics of human anatomy pertaining to posture i.e. get acquainted with our “equipment”
  • Learn simple cues for making subtle adjustments that can make a big difference
  • Become the most comfortable desk warrior in all the office-land (lol, jk, but sitting is unavoidable so let’s learn to do it well)
  • Definitely cultivate a deeper respect and appreciation of the human body’s beautiful intelligence.

For these classes, please have a yoga mat, a blanket, and a chair. You might consider setting yourself up in your desk chair (or wherever you sit often) so that we can apply the principles of our practice to our context.

Registration closes Wed Nov 19th at 4 pm CT.

November livestream yoga session – starts Nov 3rd

Thomas Myers, anatomy teacher extraordinaire, once described the body in this way: “On the order of 10’3 or 10’4 (10-100 trillion)…these buzzing little cells somehow work together (coupled with a similar or greater number of enteric bacteria) to produce the event we know as ourselves.”

As my event moves from the living room to kitchen to get a glass of water, I wonder: does my body exist to serve my will? Or am I a steward of this body? Is this body mine, or on loan?

Through it all, our bodies are our original home, what we live our lives in, what enables us to live our lives. May we find a comfortable home in our bodies.

We use our yoga practice to steward our bodies with respect and kindness – join me in this exploration!

Nov 2025 livestream yoga session

October livestream yoga session – starts Oct 6th

Each moment of practice can feel so small and inconsequential – but “small” also means manageable, and thus a chance to really show up for what is in front of us, right here. We don’t always have to have the full PowerPoint presentation and multi step plan to shift something. One breath holds the potential for change. Start, and keep going.

YOGA FOR STRENGTH (**sold out – thank you!**)
Sundays Oct 19-Dec 7th, 10:30-11:30 am

8-week session
$175 (public rate) / $160 (member rate, use code YOGAMEMBERFALL) incl GST

Strength isn’t just bracing; it’s about being steady through fluctuations. By building strength in the physical body, we feel more stable in our mental and emotional fluctuations as well. A steady body helps us to feel capable and ready for anything.

We will work up to playing at the edges of our comfort zone, and in that, I’ll offer modifications for postures so that you can find a version of the practice that suits you best.

YOGA FOR MOBILITY
Sundays Oct 19-Dec 7th, 12:00-1:00 pm

8-week session
$175 (public rate) / $160 (member rate, use code YOGAMEMBERFALL) incl GST

This session blends yoga and Functional Range Conditioning principles to maintain and improve range of motion in our joints. We slow things down to release tension, which then makes room for new movement patterns. This is particularly important for aging bodies (i.e. all bodies), injury prevention and recovery (including healing scar tissue), and simply feeling better.

I offer options to dial up / down the intensity so that you can make the practice work for your needs. Sometimes taking a step back is the more challenging choice; sometimes taking baby steps is just the right fit. Learning to adjust the practice to suit you is a key component to self-stewardship.
