We don’t always have to have the full PowerPoint presentation and multi step plan to shift something. One breath holds the potential for change. Start, and keep going.

One thing is clear: when we make room in our calendar to just exist, to simply experience time – like we do in our yoga practice – the spaciousness and creativity that can spring forward generates even more of what we crave: time, space, ease.

Amidst the various necessities of life, a sense of satisfaction is one of those feelings that can really nourish us from the inside out. How do we derive that sense of fullness? Giving ourselves completely over to something is one way. When we bring all of our attention to the moment, even when there is struggle or discomfort, we create the conditions for experiencing the flow and wholeness that we all long for.

There have been more than enough times where we’ve heard someone coo at us to “slow down” – so much so that it has become a little trite. And yet, perhaps we keep hearing the reminder because we need it, because it’s so hard to do, and the systems around us aren’t helping.

We do what we can. Practise slowing down with me this July. These beautiful, short summers deserve all our attention.
